Now on my 29th Week!

Hello Arvee!
29 weeks pregnant

Your baby's head is getting bigger and his brain is developing billions of neurons (important for later learning) at an amazing rate. His nutritional needs are growing too. To meet his body's demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamin C, folic acid, and iron. His bones in particular are soaking up lots of calcium right now, so drink your milk (or if you don't like the taste, try calcium-enriched orange juice).

Your baby now weighs around 2.5 pounds/ 1.1 kilograms and measures about 15 inches/ 38 centimeters from head to toe. In boys, testicles descend from near the kidneys through the groin en route to the scrotum. In girls, the clitoris is relatively prominent because it's not yet covered by the still-small labia. These will grow to cover it in the last few weeks before birth.

Your baby's head is getting bigger, and brain growth is very rapid at this time. Nearly all babies react to sound by 30 weeks.

Your baby's nutritional needs reach their peak during the third trimester. You'll need plenty of protein, vitamin C, folic acid, iron, and calcium (about 200 milligrams is deposited in your baby's skeleton every day), so eat foods rich in these nutrients. The skeleton hardens even more and the brain, muscles, and lungs continue to mature. So take a look at our eating well guide to make sure you are getting the right minerals and vitamins.

Now on my 28th Week!

Hello Arvee!
28 weeks pregnant

You may notice about now, that your baby moves around a lot more when you have a bath or shower. She's responding to the light and noise. Your breasts may begin to produce colostrum, the concentrated early milk, so don't be surprised if they leak a little.

You're in the home stretch. The third trimester typically starts at week 29 and lasts until week 40 and sometimes even beyond. (Don't worry - 42 weeks is the maximum! After that, a woman usually is induced to give birth.) Most women gain an average of 11 pounds/ 5 kilograms during this trimester.

By this week, your baby weighs nearly 2.3 pounds/ a little over 1 kilograms and may measure 14.8 inches/ 38 centimeters from top to toe. At about this time, your baby can open his eyes and turn his head in utero if he notices a continuous, bright light shining from the outside. His fat layers are forming and his fingernails appear.

You're probably vacillating between feeling as if you've been pregnant forever and being nervous about labor and birth. Checking off things on your to-do list can help. Start selecting possible baby names and begin thinking about life after the birth as well.

You'll probably be seeing your doctor more often in these last few weeks.

________

So happy.

On other news, I now have edema or manas. It looks so unbecoming. Yeech. Will be going on a diet but not to the extent that I will hurt Adam. Will just curtail my unhealthy munching.

Maternity Shots

I really want to have a maternity photo shoot and like an Anniversary blow out, I got two! And both free to boot! Thanks to my n@wie sisters Thet and Abbie. I soooo love my online forums!

Anyway, the 1st one will be this 28th already! Yaikes! It will be in Makati. And the 2nd will be on the 2nd week of December in UP Diliman. How's that for early "brainwashing?" haha It's like telling Jay Adam this early that it's UP Diliman or nothing. LOL

Will post pics soon!

Hello Arvee!
27 weeks pregnant

You're in the home stretch — two trimesters down, one more to go. Your baby is growing steadily as he prepares for delivery day. He will gain weight rapidly over the next weeks and, as the size of your bump increases, you may feel more breathless and tired. Your baby's acting more like a newborn now, too. He opens and closes his eyes, sleeps and wakes at regular intervals, and may suck a finger or thumb. He may also be hiccupping a lot this week, which explains that odd rhythmic sensation you've probably been feeling.

Your baby now weighs nearly 2 pounds/ 875 grams and measures 14.5 inches/ 36.6 centimeters from head to toe. Her eyes open and close, she sleeps and wakes at regular intervals and she may suck a finger or thumb.

Sweet dreams, little baby! Some experts believe that babies begin to dream by the 28th week. What do they dream about? No one knows for certain but the brain is active this week as well. The characteristic grooves on the brain's surface start to appear and more brain tissue develops.

Chalk up any rhythmic movement you may be feeling to a case of the hiccups, which are common this week and throughout the pregnancy. Your baby has them but is breathing in amniotic fluid rather than air. A paper bag can't cure her hiccups, obviously, but an episode usually lasts only momentarily. The sensation for you may be strange but not unpleasant.

Since your uterus is now up near your rib cage, you may now find yourself short of breath if you haven't already. Starting now and continuing through the last three months of pregnancy, you may be plagued by leg cramps, hemorrhoids, varicose veins and an itchy abdomen. Are pregnancy discomforts getting you down? Try some natural remedies to perk you up.

Baby Shopping

Me and my mom are both excited to buy some stuff for the baby. And since someone gave her P12,500 worth of SM gift certificate and SM declared a sale last weekend, our eagerness to shop have been uped a few decibels! We were ready to shop till we drop but my aunt, who is a nurse, said that according to pamahiin it is not good to shop for the baby until he is 7 months. Bummer. I was already calculating how many clothes I will be buying Adam. :( I started buying him shoes and clothes (only 1 at a time thou) starting 2 weeks ago so you can see how excited I am. Anyay, to compromise, we decided to not buy clothes for a while BUT still buy some major baby stuff. Here are the items we bought:

1. Mickey Mouse comforter set (with pillow, booster pillows, comforter and flat sheet)
- I initially wanted Cars since it is more masculine but since Mama is paying she can have her way. I'll just buy one as a reliever. Also, the good thing about a Mickey comforter is that the next baby, in case she is a girl, can use it too.
2. Baby cabinet
3. Feeding bottles (2 2ml ones and 6 12 ml ones)
- we bought Farlin BPA free yet cheap
4. Bottle sterilizer
5. Bottle brush
6. Baby nail cutter
7. Baby powder holder
8. 1 pair of diaper clipper

We will be buying baby clothes around December or January when there's a sale again. Some of the items that were already pledges were the crib (again c/o Mama) and the stroller with car seat (c/o my brother Arvin). For our pagtitipid, we will be buying Adam's pang araw araw diapers in a local diaper store in Rizal and cloth diapers in Taytay Rizal where garments are way cheaper. We will just have someone cut and sew it for us. :)

Hello Arvee!
26 weeks pregnant

Your baby's becoming more sensitive to sound as the network of nerves in her ears develops. If dad talks to her now, she might learn to recognize his voice. The more she hears it, the more likely she is to find it soothing after she's born. If he feels strange just talking to the baby, he can read the newspaper or a book out loud.

Measuring your baby from top to toe with his legs extended, he is about 14 inches/ 35.6 centimeters. He weighs a little more than 1.6 pounds/ 760 grams. Your baby's eyes begin to open around now. Response to sound grows more consistent toward the end of the seventh month, when the network of nerves to the ear is complete. He also continues to take small breaths and although he's only breathing in water and not air, it's still good practice for when he's born.

Since your baby is now growing so fast, and brain development is so intense at this stage, your nutrition is very important. Continue to eat a well-balanced diet that includes plenty of grains and vegetables. Fiber-rich foods, including whole-grain breads and cereals, lentils and brown rice are high in vitamin B and help fend off constipation.

Your prenatal classes should start sometime in the next few weeks, if it hasn't already. Classes should provide you with good, clear information about the birth and the early days of parenthood. Keeping informed goes a long way toward calming any concerns you may have about giving birth.

My doctor is still not satisfied with Adam's weight and so are we. :( I don't know what to do anymore since I eat a lot and I even take a lot of vitamins. I don't even look 6 months pregnant! I'm trying to eat small meals now but like 5-6 times a day so that baby will get bigger and not mommy. I am so anxious to get him ultrasound 4D style but since he is still small it will just have to be put off for another month. On a good note, we found a good and cheap $D ultrasound clinic newly opened in Robinsons Starmills. Instead of the usual P3K (I hear some even charge P%K!) it only charges P1,500! That only made me more excited! =)
